Ladegerätverbindung

Beitrag von zzonyx »

Can someone please provide his/her direct experiece in loading the battery through the trunk socket, using a normal vehicle battery charger (e.g. BOSCH, max. output 6 A) ?
It is a rather simple way to do, but I'm worried for the electronics on board my Octavia I TDI (81 kW).
The battery is a 74 Ah one, it should have no problems below 7 A load current.

Please feel free to answer in German.
Thanks in advance, best regards to all.

I do so with my Motocycle - and BMW encourages you to do it this way.

But there might be a little difference between the electronics used in a 15 year old bike and an new car...

Ciao

Yes, Dirk, that's been exactly my worry - the battery might like it, the electronics not - there are some delicate sensors aboard. I've used the technique successfully on older cars without any harm. It did take some reworking of the charger (male/female polarized plugs, clamps).
Thanks anyway, best regards.
